Iams Veterinary Formula Intestinal Plus is a low-residue food used primarily in treating loose stools in puppies. It is beneficial for either chronic or acute intestinal problems, and can bring about quick results within three days. The effectiveness of this formula is thanks to a combination of proteins, Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, and premium quality fiber. This blend eases digestion and promotes a healthy coat and skin. The formula allows for high nutritional absorption and offers the dog a tasty flavor to encourage appetite. With the inclusion of Iams Daily Dental Care, it helps reduce plaque and tartar build-up.

First of all Iams is a low grade food that will probably seem to solve your diarrhea problem but will not nurish his body. You have diarrhea problems, feed fiber! You can feed Nature's Variety, Timberwolf or Canidae. They all have a good amount of fiber plus Lactus Bacillus Acidophillus! Great for maintaining a good intestinal flora. However, for added benefits, I feed my dogs fresh spinach and/or vegetables included in their food.

Julie, I’m sorry to hear your dog is having difficulty adjusting to a new food. I do not know why Iams decided to discontinue their Veterinary line. As you can see from other comments, your situation is not uncommon. Some vets are recommending the Royal Canin Low Fat GI formula as an alternative to the former Iams Intestinal Plus. You might want to check with your vet about that.
